Still MegaHex

Quick update, Summer sucks and the MegaHex project is still progressing. Though I am still working on the quickest way to produce a finished tile, I am surprised at the slowness of this development process.

Details still being pondered is detail for specific tiles, in that the amount of detailing that should be a part of the tile such as barricades and cover or should that be all on their own bases. I am leaning towards separately based such that they can be used out side of this terrain project.

Later this week i am going to get some pictures taken and maybe a After-Action-Report of a playtest. All depending how much Real-Life(tm) intrudes.

Words, excuses and more words....

Ok I have a whole passel of detail stage models here on the worktable, and I am stuck. Well not really stuck, I was going to build all the weapons and what-not up from scratch, but that process is SLOW very slow.... So I am going to dig into the bits collection and finish them out like that.

Other than that i am finishing up a couple of income projects that have sucked up more time than I billed, only to have the payee push back both the due date and payment date to the 1st of the year. So once the T-day cooking is done I am free until 1st of the year. But, it still is the Time/Money equation.

To top off all that off, tons of new Bad Ideas....

Ain't dead yet....

It has been a while since I have posted, Sorry (actually I am, I like talking about what I am doing). Have had a couple of large 1:1 scale projects here at Casa MacDude, the Bigboss will be here for a month from Japan in a couple of weeks, and she starts at "Not Amused". As well as working hard on making enough Lucre to travel north to spend some time with "She who Understands and gives Comfort" We have both been busy with our own lives.

Add to that I have been distracted by a couple of new miniatures projects; the 1st is Mega-Hex a The Fantasy Trip inspired geomorphic Space Labyrinth, based on 7 hex "megahexes". Also working on specific rules for using them, mostly adapting using them to Savage Worlds/Savage Showdown rules. Will post them once I and the Test Dummy (aka "The Boy", aka "Onboar") are happy with them.

The second is a set of Neuspeeders, think SF3D inspired Star-Wars-ish gravity skimmers (man, that sounds cooler in my head than it looks typed out). The are highly organic in form with technic details and the 1st set are giving me fits. I posted a couple of pics in earlier post, listed as turret-less tanks but really something closer to Gun Trucks, as the scaling is towards the automobile size rather than the larger AFV/Tank scale. Here is a gallery of models fueling my inspiration.

Lastly a set of hand drawn "Loot" cards for my Post Apocalyptic game.

Turret-less Grav Tanks

Recently on the The Miniatures Page in the SF Discussion forum there was some talk about wether Gravity lift and drive tanks needed turrets or not. Considering this question I kludged together a couple of concept sculpts. Just to play with the Idea. Bob isn't sure, but these are only concept tanks....

I think I need smaller fingers

I am doing the artist block thing tonight, I primed the bus and set about building details to finish the the Wrecker and the Jeep. And well all that was running around my head was Landspeeders. So I built one, or at least my copy of of a GW Space Marine one, or at least I started one.

I figure if I can exorcise the idea then I can get back to finishing other models that are further along in the process.

The Boat is distressed but still needs a pilothouse and finish the well.

The wrecker need its outer skin on the bed. Meaning the tool compartments and the lifting arm (I am going to use one of GZG's).

The Jeep, Provider with tank, Fennek and Gecko watertruck just need external stowage. Most of the distressing on these will be in the painting.

I also have been pondering crews for all these vehicles. It not like I don't have the figures for them, a huge collection of figures is a much smaller space that the equivalent in 28mm, and I have been buying for a decade. Rediscovering past purchases is a joy, I have a huge army of gangs, I apparently bought most of the AK47 line from PeterPig. Not to mention significant portions of the Wild West line (but this is left over from the Legends of the Old West idea from a couple of years ago (Not to mention looking for characters for a certain Brown-coated Freetrader Traveller game)).

Back to the Garage, too many hoods are up.
